ICCIT 2009 Paper Accepted!

Posted in Project Related on September 29th, 2009 by James – Be the first to comment

Just got word from ICCIT 2009 that my paper has been accepted!

While not a top of the line conference, this is still my first accepted publication (My other paper to IEEE Internet Computing on something entirely different is still under review… some 2 months in..). There were 470 odd submissions, and 150 are selected, so I guess I beat at least some competition somewhere haha..

Cyclostationary feature extraction through SCF

Posted in Key Posts, Project Related on September 7th, 2009 by James – 15 Comments

This is probably the last big thing I will do for the project this year. The articles are hard to read, and the maths behind the whole cyclostationary thing is daunghting at best… Anyway, I have managed to chew through some of that, and a proof of concept MATLAB simulation has been done.. There won’t be enough time to do this properly on the LabVIEW and my VSA box.. but oh well, the next person could probably carry on…

CRLibs documentation complete

Posted in LabVIEW, Project Related on September 4th, 2009 by James – 1 Comment

Hmm, the year is nearing the end, and so is my project.

Anyway, documentation for CRLibs is done, it is integrated into LabVIEW completely, so all the contextual help and detailed help etc works and everything… er.. yeah I think thats all I have to say at the moment… some pictures:

FM Radio receiver LabVIEW VIs

Posted in Key Posts, LabVIEW, Project Related on August 31st, 2009 by James – Be the first to comment

Ok so I forgot to actually include the VIs in the post back in June (http://cr.jamesyxu.com/?p=122), some people have been asking for it, so I will post the images here…. all files are expected to be open via SVN later though, so dont worry…

I won! IET Present Around the World (PATW) Regionals

Posted in LabVIEW, Project Related on August 29th, 2009 by James – Be the first to comment

Signed up to IET Present Around the World (PATW) competition a few weeks back when Dr. Tom Moir (one of my supervisors) approached me with the information. Prepared some slides on the adpative energy detector, and went along with the presentation pretty much matter of factly… anyway, the good news! I won!

Update time!

Yes it is time for another update. Awhile ago, I listed the things to do, here I will just sort of talk about what I have done for each objective, and what I plan to do in the future.

Plans to open SVN

Posted in Project Related on July 22nd, 2009 by James – Be the first to comment

Nearer the end of the year, I will be looking at opening access to my SVN (Trac will not be open however).. currently I have all the files related to the project stored in it, I will probably start a new SVN repository and put the CRLibs and all the LabVIEW stuff I have done into the new one (and just sync the private and public svns with commit-hooks or something… does svn repo have user rights?? never seen it before).

Updates?

Posted in Project Related on July 22nd, 2009 by James – Be the first to comment

Hmmm… I havent posted here for a while (well like a week).. so lets see…

  • Entropy detection, we are still in the process of reading various articles, and looking at if we can use it for channel sensing
  • I’m in the process of getting an Antenna, Limiter, LNA etc etc you know the whole chain for Cellular bands (800-2100MHz).
  • I’m also collecting various bits and pieces of LabVIEW code I have written here and there, and collecting the useful ones into CRLib subVIs.
  • Writing documentations for CRLib at the moment, also putting out examples for people who want to use the lib.

Adaptive energy detection

Posted in Key Posts, Project Related on July 14th, 2009 by James – Be the first to comment

Right, so one thing we did find over the past few weeks when doing channel sensing, is that if your window is out of place (so that only a leg of the signal is in the detection window), or too big (compared to the signal you are measuring), you are not going to get much from that detector.
